“A superb collection of well-written, well-organized, and authoritative chapters that are as up to date as possible. Almost every chapter is outstanding and some are classics in their own right. The authors represent a who’s who of experts on modern tropical infectious diseases.” – The New England Journal of Medicine
1. This text is the gold standard for a reason. As a medical student and masters student I can appreciate the depth and breadth of this book. It is truly comprehensive. If I had to make any critique, its that the autor may on occasion ramble on about somewhat geographically diverse and at times overwhelming studies on a particular disease. Don’t get me wrong, this is pretty much what tropical medicine is all about: understanding the complex ecology of infectious diseases. It can just be a bit much at times. The figures and photos are fantastic and the book is organized in both a pathogen and then clinically oriented fashion. This is a must have on the bookshelf of anybody who plans on going into global health/tropical/infectious medicine.
2. I have been reading most books on Tropical Medicine. This is the the best book I have seen so far. It is a must have for anybody seriously interested in Tropical Medicine.
3. The first truly comprehensive guide to tropical infectious diseases, compiled by the leading authorities in the field. Of enormous use and benefit.
