Gastrointestinal Cancers : Prevention, Detection and Treatment, Volume 1

Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Pathology  Comments Off on Gastrointestinal Cancers : Prevention, Detection and Treatment, Volume 1
Jun 142018

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is well known cancer of digestive system that includes cancer of esophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. The incidence of GI cancer is higher in developed countries than developing counties. In developed countries such as United States, GI cancer accounts to 20 percent of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. In the developing countries inside Asia the burden of GI cancer is increasing because of aging, growth of the population and the risk factors including smoking, obesity, changing lifestyle and high prevalence of H pylori, HBV and HCV. In most developing countries, cancer control programs or early detection and treatment services are limited despite this increase.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth commonest cause of cancer-related mortality across the world. This cancer is the fifth-most-common cause of cancer deaths in the United States and the seventh most common cancer in Europe. The majority of cases are diagnosed in the advanced stages, making curative therapy impossible and leading to poor prognosis and incidence equaling mortality. It has been estimated that rates of pancreatic cancer have been increasing slightly over the past decade. Pancreatic cancer is a very lethal and aggressive cancer and diagnosis is delayed, as the symptoms appear when the cancer is in advanced stage.

Liver cancer (also called hepatic cancer) is a cancer that originates in the hepatic cells, also known as primary liver cancer. Some cancers arise in other part of body and metastasize in the liver called secondary or metastatic liver cancer. The most common form of liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma, which begins in the liver cell (hepatocyte). Primary liver cancer accounts for about 2% of cancers in the USA, but up to half of all cancers in some developing countries due to the prevalence of infections specifically by hepatitis virus.

On the basis of various incidences of different gastrointestinal cancer motivates us to compile a book related to gastrointestinal cancers and focus on the almost all type of prevention, detection and treatment methods from the world experts. This book is the culmination of the efforts of several researchers, junior and senior clinicians as well scientists as per their field of expertise across the world. In this book authors focused on different gastrointestinal cancers and describe the various methods for prevention, detection and treatment. The book has enormous scope and will benefit multiple audience including researchers, clinicians, patients, academicians, industrialists, and students.

Topographical and Pathotopographical Medical Atlas of the Chest, Abdomen, Lumbar Region, and Retroperitoneal Space

Medical Atlas, Pathology  Comments Off on Topographical and Pathotopographical Medical Atlas of the Chest, Abdomen, Lumbar Region, and Retroperitoneal Space
Jun 072018

The third medical atlas in this new series on the human body and filled with detailed pictures, this atlas details the topographical and pathotopographical anatomy of the chest, abdomen, lumbar region, and retroperitoneal space, a useful reference for medical professionals and students alike.

Written by an experienced and well–respected physician and professor, this new volume, building on the previous volume, Ultrasonic Topographical and Pathotopographical Anatomy, and its sequel, Topographical and Pathotopographical Medical Atlas of the Head and Neck, also available from Wiley–Scrivener, presents the ultrasonic topographical and pathotopographical anatomy of the chest, abdomen, lumbar region, and retroperitoneal space, offering further detail into these important areas for use by medical professionals.

This series of atlases of topographic and pathotopographic human anatomy is a fundamental and practically important series designed for doctors of all specializations and students of medical schools. Here you can find almost everything that is connected with the topographic and pathotopographic human anatomy, including original graphs of logical structures of topographic anatomy and development of congenital abnormalities, topography of different areas in layers, pathotopography, and computer and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of topographic and pathotopographic anatomy. Also you can find here new theoretical and practical sections of topographic anatomy developed by the author himself which are published for the first time. They are practically important for mastering the technique of operative interventions and denying the possibility of iatrogenic complications during operations.

This important new volume will be valuable to physicians, junior physicians, medical residents, lecturers in medicine, and medical students alike, either as a textbook or as a reference. It is a must–have for any physician′s library.

This groundbreaking new volume:

Using the same technology as the first two atlases by the same author, solves the problem of visualization of topographical and pathotopographical anatomy
Builds on the author′s previous book, Ultrasonic Topographical and Pathotopographical Anatomy and the sequel, focusing solely on the areas of the chest, abdomen, and surrounding regions
Goes beyond previous attempts, which are often drawings, by using state–of–the–art technology to show detailed physiological areas
Is for medical professionals of all types and levels, from students and professors to working doctors and other medical professionals doing research and development
AUDIENCE:

Physicians, interns, junior physicians, medical residents, medical students, specialists in surgery, traumatology, neurosurgery, oncology, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, dental surgery, anesthesiology, and other medical specialists concerned with different topographical and anatomical structures.

Atlas of Bone Marrow Pathology (Atlas of Anatomic Pathology)

Anatomy, Pathology  Comments Off on Atlas of Bone Marrow Pathology (Atlas of Anatomic Pathology)
Jun 072018

This text illustrates bone marrow aspirate, imprint and biopsy specimens showing characteristic features of a wide variety of neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions. While the focus is on Wright-stained smears and hematoxylin-eosin stained biopsies, other key histochemical and immunohistochemical stains are illustrated that are vital for proper diagnosis. After a brief review of the normal bone marrow, reactive changes in the marrow are illustrated, including the bone marrow response in constitutional disorders and to metabolic changes throughout the body. This is followed by specific infectious disorders in the marrow and other non-neoplastic disorders. The remainder of the Atlas illustrates the various neoplasms that involve the bone marrow, including leukemias, lymphomas and non-hematopoietic neoplasms. The hematologic neoplasms are classified using the 2016 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. This overview of bone marrow disorders illustrates a wide variety of diseases that practicing pathologists and hematologists will encounter in their routine practice.
